The Hopkins team took top honors for the second year at the annual 5K Liver Walk/Run in November.  Beating last year’s pledges, the team brought in $6,110 for the Walk/Run, boosting the total raised that day to $9,629.

Led by Team Captain Luis Arrazola, M.D., Director of the Live Donor Liver Transplant Program, and supported by Hopkins Patient Services Coordinator, Pat DeBerry, as Team Leader, the hospital recruited approximately 30 walkers for the event that  took place at Centennial Park in Columbia, MD.

Participants included the acting medical director of transplant hepatology, Anna Mae Diehl, M.D. and liver pre- and post-transplant patients, organ donors and family members.   Dr. Diehl’s pooch, Midnight, produced many smiles from all walkers and runners.

The American Liver Foundation event was held on November 8 in three locations: Washington, D.C., Frederick, MD, as well as Columbia. The funds are used by the foundation to support research and education programs in the local area.
