In the true spirit of giving, Martin Turner, kidney transplant recipient, is now contributing his time and energy to improving the health of his community. Turner is organizing a health fair at 1pm on Satuday, December 15, 2005 at the Philadelphia Ministries Christian Church. He has pledged to donate to health-related non profit organizations every year he holds this event.
The health fair is designed to raise awareness about health issues and to educate Baltimore community members about how to prevent diseases, such as diabetes. The health fair will feature free screenings and health information by organizations such as the National Kidney Foundation, the Johns Hopkins CTC, the Transplant Resource Center of Maryland, the Health Education Resource Organization, Inc, and more.
Following the health fair, you are welcome to join the event sponsors at a fundraiser concert featuring gospel performers (The Pauline Wells Lewis Legacy Choir, Junior Academy Children’s Choir, and many more). Tickets for the gospel concert are $20. All funds raised that evening will be donated to the National Kidney Foundation.
Free Health Fair, 1pm, Saturday, December 17, 2005, Philadelphia Ministries Christian Church, 3401 Manasota Avenue, Baltimore, MD
