MEDBANK of Maryland, Inc. Wins “Innovator of the Year” Award

The Daily Record, Maryland’s business and legal newspaper, recently announced its “Innovator of the Year” awards. The Comprehensive Transplant Center is proud to recognize that MEDBANK of Maryland, Inc., founded by CTC Administrator Bob McEwan, was one of the winners. A nonprofit, volunteer organization, MEDBANK of Maryland provides low-income, underinsured, chronically ill patients with their drugs free or for a nominal co-pay.

More than 14,000 Maryland residents have been registered through the volunteers at MEDBANK, who fill out paperwork on behalf of patients to access pharmaceutical industry Patient Assistance Programs. Ten full-time VISTA volunteers work with staff to enroll patients. After an initial focus on Baltimore city and county, the MEDBANK program is now statewide. The program is supported by a grant from the Maryland Health Care Foundation. For more information about MEDBANK call 410-821-9262 or fax 410-821-9265.   http://www.medbankmd.org

The “Innovator of the Year” awards program recognizes 25 individuals or organizations that have demonstrated the spirit of innovation by creating new products, services or programs that benefit their businesses, industries or communities. The winners will be honored at a dinner ceremony on September 12 at The Renaissance Harborplace Hotel, at which time the top innovator of the year selected from the 25 will be announced.
