In September 2002, the Heart Transplant Foundation formally received a donation from the Baltimore Paint and Powder Club. The gift was raised from the club’s annual charity entertainment show in May, which was sold out both nights it was presented. The gift was presented to Pat Burnside, the Foundation’s President, “I feel very privileged to have this given to us,” said Burnside.
The Heart Transplant Foundation (HTF) uses its funds to support various activities of interest to heart transplants. The organization, whose officers are heart transplant recipients, publishes a newsletter for the local heart transplant community. HTF also sponsors a monthly meeting at Hopkins that focuses on topics related to transplantation.
HTF also provides financial support to its membership. This support is provided in conjunction with needs identified by the Hopkins medical team. All financial support is provided in a manner to protect the recipient’s privacy.
