Surgical Director Strengthens Liver Program, Refocuses on Living Donation

As an alternative to waiting on the national list for a deceased donation, living donation is a viable option for kidney and liver transplant candidates. Today, the CTC welcomes back the surgeon who helped initiate the living liver donor program: Warren Maley, M.D.

A Board-certified surgeon, Dr. Warren Maley is an expert in traditional and split-liver transplantation and was recently named as the director of the Johns Hopkins Comprehensive Transplant Center (CTC)’s Liver Transplant Program.

Dr. Maley continues to reinforce the CTC’s commitment to our patients’ safety. Together, the Director of the CTC, Dr. Robert Montgomery and Dr. Maley represent the surgeons who will conduct our center’s living liver donor surgeries. With the skills of these two surgeons in the operating room, the liver transplant program meets the rigorous national safety standards for living liver donor surgery.

In his leadership role, Dr. Maley has encouraged his team to explore new areas in the field, while maintaining high safety standards.
