Professor of Surgery
Dr. Burdick is the director of the Office of Special Programs at the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. He is also a professor of transplantation surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Division of Transplantation.
Dr. Burdick’s clinical work and research interests reflect HRSA’s mission to improve and expand access to quality health care for all Americans. He possesses extensive clinical and research experience in vascular and transplant surgery, graft rejection, reperfusion injury, immunocompetence and immunosuppression. In addition, he is a former president of South-Eastern Organ Procurement Foundation, former chairman of the Maryland Commission on Kidney Disease, former councilor for American Society of Transplant Surgeons, and a former president of United Network for Organ Sharing.
