Message from Dr. Theodore P. Abraham
Suburban Hospital is a unique regional hospital that boasts a vibrant and cutting-edge clinical research program in addition to its high-quality clinical care. As part of the larger Johns Hopkins system, it also offers new opportunities for expansion of the Johns Hopkins tripartite mission to the National Capital region. I am honored to be appointed the first Associate Dean for Research in the Capital Region.
As associate dean, my primary responsibility will be to facilitate clinical and translational research at Suburban Hospital. I plan on creating a seamless and collaborative infrastructure that supports all avenues of research at Suburban Hospital. Our research team will endeavor to sustain and grow the opportunities for research participation here. We seek to provide information and assistance to patients and their families wanting to know more about research. Similarly, our office will support physicians and all health providers in developing and conducting research. Specifically the Suburban Hospital research office will provide assistance with research regulatory matters, provide space for research and coordinate research training.
I will be working closely with the Johns Hopkins research enterprise such as the Institutional Review Board, Clinical Research Network, Institute for Clinical and Translational Research and other health system entities to both support investigators that are currently conducting research at these sites and support Hopkins investigators that may want to expand their research to Suburban Hospital.
I believe that coordination of the abundant strengths within Johns Hopkins Medicine with streamlined research operations in the National Capital Region will bring new vigor to the overall clinical research mission of Johns Hopkins Medicine. I am excited to be part of this effort.
