Suburban Hospital Honors Daisy Award Winner
Release Date: January 8, 2013
Kathleen Nichols receiving the Daisy Award
BETHESDA, Md. (January 8, 2013) – Suburban Hospital recently honored Emergency Department nurse Kathleen Nichols, R.N., with the Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nursing. Nichols has been a nurse for almost ten years and has been with Suburban Hospital for the last two years.
“I truly enjoy and love what I do and it is great to be recognized for my efforts,” said Nichols. “I am part of a great team and am honored to be nominated by my colleagues.”
Daisy, an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System, is an award given each year to a nurse who has shown exemplary commitment within the field. Twice a year, Suburban’s Professional Development Nursing Council sets the criteria for the award, reviews the nominations and selects the winner.
“Kathleen is our fourth Daisy at Suburban Hospital since 2011,” said Barbara Jacobs, MSN, RN-BC, CCRN, CENP, chief nurse officer at Suburban Hospital. “Each time I participate in a Daisy award presentation, it is both touching and uplifting to hear the nominations of these extremely dedicated nurses,” she noted. “It reminds us all why we chose nursing as a profession.”
