Campus Redevelopment Project

Drawing of proposed new Suburban Hospital campus Artist's rendering of a planned enhancement and expansion of the Suburban Hospital campus

For more than 70 years, Suburban Hospital has been proud to serve the residents of Montgomery County and Northwest Washington, DC. As the County's only designated Trauma Center and a Primary Stroke Center, we help our region's residents when they need us most.

Just as our community has evolved significantly since Suburban Hospital first opened its doors, so too must our hospital. That's why we are proud and excited to announce that we've received final zoning approval to expand and enhance our facilities. These needed updates will enable us to continue providing the highest quality healthcare services, and help ensure Montgomery County remains a great place to live.

More Services Conveniently Located to Better Serve You

The enhanced and expanded facilities will be conveniently located where we've always been on Old Georgetown Road, just north of downtown Bethesda and directly across from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), with whom we have an important medical partnership. Our plans contain a number of enhanced and expanded services to better serve you. These services include:

  • Improved access to the emergency/trauma center;
  • Larger, state-of-the-art operating suites for trauma and other surgeries;
  • Mostly private, acute care patient rooms;
  • More on-site patient and visitor parking; and
  • Convenient, on-site physician offices
