Healthy Minds is a recently founded student group dedicated to helping young men and women develop a stronger foundation in math specifically, and STEM education more broadly. Volunteers will have the unique opportunity to teach 3rd - 6th grade students in small groups at nearby Commodore John Rodgers Elementary and Middle School one afternoon a week, M - Th, from 3 - 4:15 PM. This turnaround school provides volunteers with a wonderful chance to explore the world of teaching and math with bright, motivated young minds. Tutoring sessions will occur throughout the academic year, beginning mid-October. Volunteers are asked to make a commitment from mid-October 2012 through February 2013. This opportunity will require an average of 1.5 hours per week.
