Award Notice Process MA/MS Students

2009 - 2010 Award Notice Process -  Medical and Art as Applied to Medicine Students

Academic Calendar - Class Start Dates:
The official start date of classes is based on the academic calendar published by the Registrar's Office. The start and end dates of your program determines the effective date of your financial aid disbursements for the fall and spring semesters. You may view the academic calendar for your program and the established financial aid disbursement schedule for the current academic year.

Award Notification:
All students notified beginning June 1

Students are notified by email using their assigned JHED email address.  New students are notified using the email address submitted at time of admission if a JHED email address has not been assigned.   All students are directed to accept and decline their awards through the ISIS (Integrated Student Information System) Financial Aid Self-Service module.  New students will be notified of the process once admitted.  Continuing students will be notified of the process at time of awarding.

Awarding:
Students must complete the FAFSA application for consideration of federal and institutional financial aid funding.   Students are encouraged to file by the priority award date of March 15 to ensure timely awarding of their financial aid package.

Scholarship:
Scholarship determination is made by your Department.  Please contact them directly with any questions.

First Time Federal Loan Borrowers:
All first time borrowers of federal loans must complete an online entrance interview counseling session

First time borrowers of Federal Direct  Unsubsidized loans will also be required to complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN).  Students can complete their MPN NOW.

All students awarded a Federal Perkins Loan will be required to electronically sign (e-sign) a promissory note online, a  yearly requirement for all Perkins Loan borrowers.  This will be an open-ended note for the academic year.  Therefore, no additional loan note signatures will be required if any adjustments are made throughout the academic year.  Students will receive additional information as to when this process may be completed.

All first time borrowers of the Federal Direct GradPlus Loan will be required to complete an Entrance Interview Form and complete an individual entrance interview counseling session.  First time borrowers must complete a GradPlus Master Promissory Note (MPN).  Because a credit check is required before this loan is approved, the Master Promissory Note is not completed until verification of the loan has been guaranteed and approval is received.  Both the student and the Financial Aid Office are notified of the student’s status.

No loan funds will be released for any of the above loan funds until all required information and promissory note confirmations have been received.
