Arun Venkatesan, MD Assistant Professor, Neurology
Arun Venkatesan grew up in California and attended the University of California, Berkeley before joining the MD/PhD program at the University of California, Los Angeles. Subsequently, he moved to Baltimore to complete his residency training in neurology and a fellowship in neuroimmunology and neuroinfectious diseases at Johns Hopkins. He is currently a faculty member in the Division of Neuroimmunology and Neuroinfectious Diseases, within the department of Neurology. He lives in Baltimore with his wonderful wife and two very busy children.
His research interest are centered around neurologic infections, and as a director of the Johns Hopkins Encephalitis Center he maintains both a basic science and clinical research program devoted to developing new treatments for encephalitis and related conditions. He is also an active member of the Multiple Sclerosis and Transverse Myelitis Centers at Johns Hopkins.
Dr. Venkatesan had a fantastic experience as a resident at Hopkins, where he was taught by individuals with great knowledge, passion, and teaching skills. He hopes to pass this experience on to students, residents, and fellows. He is Associate Residency Director of the Johns Hopkins Neurology residency program, and is honored to join Nathans College and the Colleges Advisory Program.
