We need your Biography Book submissions!
Share with your classmates what you've been doing by completing the online Bio Book form.  Photos are encouraged, and you can submit one or two photos to be included in the book via email to SOMReunion@jhmi.edu or via mail to Reunion 2013, 100 North Charles Street, Suite 211, Baltimore, MD 21201.  We will do our best to include as many photos as space will allow.  Please note that if you choose not to submit anything, your name, graduation photo and home address we have on file will automatically be included.  If you prefer to not have your home address listed in the Bio Book, please email SOMReunion@jhmi.edu or call 410-516-3809.  Bio Books are only distributed among your classmates.

1987....

1 gallon of gas costs 89 cents.  The Food and Drug Administration approves anti-AIDS drug AZT.  Work on the Channel Tunnel joining UK and France begins.  Disposable Contact Lenses became available for commercial distribution.  The Simpsons is seen on TV for the first time.  Popular films include Beverly Hills Cop II, Good Morning, Vietnam and Dirty Dancing.  People are listening to Peter Gabriel, George Michael, and U2.

1987 was an unforgettable year - it was the year we graduated from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine!

Feinberg

NIH Director’s Pioneer Award

Congratulations to Andrew P. Feinberg, Med ’76, who is a 2011 recipient of the National Institutes of Health's Director’s Pioneer Award.  The Award supports innovative ideas that have the potential to propel fields forward and speed the translation of research into improved health for the American public.

Feinberg’s research (A General Stochastic Epigenetic Model For Evolution, Development, And Disease) involves non-DNA sequence-related heredity; his early studies of epigenetic alterations of genes in human cancer were controversial. Because it involves the relationship between an individual's genetic background, the environment, aging and diseases such as cancer, epigenetics today is at the epicenter of modern medicine.
