The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is an international leader in the education of physicians and clinical scientists in biomedical research and in the application of medical knowledge to patient care. In addition to its M.D. program, the School of Medicine offers Ph.D. and master's degrees, as well as a combined M.D./Ph.D.
The excitement of discovery and medical innovation is a prime animating force at Johns Hopkins. Daily, colleagues come together to explore new ideas and to cross-fertilize ongoing research. Basic scientists in our School of Medicine uncover the underlying mechanisms and elements of life and health, while our clinical scientists develop new knowledge, techniques and technology for patient care. Their creative research brings to the School of Medicine more National Institutes of Health research funding than to any other medical school.
People come to Johns Hopkins medical facilities from around the world, confident that they will receive the best, most comprehensive, most cost-effective care available anywhere.
The inter-relationship among teaching, research and patient care that was created at Hopkins more than a century ago by the founding physicians of the School of Medicine remains as effective today as it was at its initiation. Here, ideas continue to be honed, tested, debated, taught to others and applied for the benefit of the human race.
