Gynecology FAQs

Q. How far in advance do I need to schedule my yearly well women appointment?
A. Appointment books are open 3 months in advance. The earlier you schedule your appointment the more options you will have available.

Q. Should I bring my records from my previous doctor's office?
A. If you are transferring to our practice while pregnant, or if you are transferring with a chronic medical condition please bring your records with you on your first visit.

Q. How long do I have to wait for my Pap smear and/or other laboratory/pathology results?
A. Most Pap smears results are available to our office within three to four weeks. Laboratory tests are often available within 7-10 days but some may take longer. Biopsies usually take five to seven days to return to the office. We strongly recommend that you discuss with your health care provider how they would like you to arrange follow-up discussion for any of these tests.

Q. I had a vaginal/urine/throat culture done in the office, how long do I have to wait for my results?
A. Cultures are generally available within 72-96 hours. We strongly recommend that you discuss with your health care provider how they would like you to arrange follow-up discussion for any of these tests.

Q. How long do I have to wait for my mammogram results?
A. Mammograms are usually available in one week. By law the radiology centers must send patients a report of their mammogram. Since women get mammograms for different reasons we strongly recommend that you discuss with your health care provider how they would like you to arrange follow-up discussion for this test.

Q. How soon can my surgery be scheduled?
A. This varies depending on the level of urgency that is assigned. Although most surgeries are not emergencies, your surgery will be scheduled as soon as possible. The actual date will depend on your schedule, your physician's schedule, and operating room availability. Q. Who will pre-certify my upcoming surgery?
A. Our Surgical Coordinator will contact your insurance plan to precertify and verify your insurance benefits.

Q. When and where do I need to get my preoperative lab work done?
