Q. Are you open for routine appointments on weekends or evenings?
A. We have evening office hours on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Currently, we do not have weekend office hours.
Q. What hospitals are you affiliated with?
A. Howard County General Hospital, a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine (www.hcgh.org) and Howard County Ambulatory Surgery Center
Q. What insurance plans does the office accept?
A: We accept most insurance plans. To be absolutely sure you can come to our office we recommend you call your insurance company directly and ask if we are participating providers.
Q. Do I need a referral to see my Ob/Gyn?
A. Most insurance plans allow you direct access to your Ob/Gyn which means no referral is necessary. There are, however, a few insurance plans that will require a referral, especially if you are seeing us for infertility. It's best when uncertain to contact your insurance and ask them.
Q. Can I go to a different Laboratory or Radiology Center then the one that was recommended?
A. Most insurance companies direct us to which laboratory/radiology center that they participate with. Although another center may be more convenient, your insurance company most likely will deny the claim and pass the expense on to you.
Q. Should I bring my records from my previous doctor's office?
A. If you are transferring to our practice while pregnant, or if you are transferring with a chronic medical condition please bring your records with you on your first visit.
Q. How far in advance do I need to schedule my yearly appointment?
A. Appointment books are open 3-4 months in advance. The earlier you schedule your appointment the more options you will have available.
Q. How do I request my medical records?
A. Medical records request can be made by calling the office or through the mail. Request should include first name, middle name, date of birth and phone number. There is a charge for each copy of your medical record requested. We will inform you of charges when chart is ready for pick up. Please allow us a minimum of seven day’s notice to prepare your copy. We will call when they are ready to be picked up.
Q. What if the weather is bad? How do I know if you are opened or closed?
A. In the event of inclement weather, we will post a message on the office answering machine (410-884-8000) at 6:30 AM stating either: (1) "Due to inclement weather, the office will delay opening until XX:XX." -or- (2) "Due to inclement weather, the office will be closed today, <month XX, 201X>.”
