Certified Nurse Midwives FAQs

Q. Can I see a Certified Nurse Midwife for my yearly gynecology checkup?
A. Yes. Certified Nurse Midwives are trained to do routine annual gynecologic exams as well as discuss issues of preconception, contraception, nutrition, sexuality, and sexually transmitted disease (STD) counseling

Q. I would like to have my daughter come in for her gynecology visit. Would a Certified Nurse Midwife be an appropriate place to start?
A. Yes. Certified Nurse Midwives are trained to work specifically with issues that adolescents are most concerned about, i.e. sexuality, sexually transmitted disease (STD) counseling, contraception, menstrual cycles and GardasilĀ® vaccine.

Q. Will the Certified Nurse Midwife visit be covered by my insurance plan?
A. Most insurance plans will cover an office visits with the Certified Nurse Midwives. If you have a specific question or concern, please contact your insurance plan or our billing department.

Q. What happens if I develop a more complicated gynecologic problem while seeing the Certified Nurse Midwives?
A. The Certified Nurse Midwives work closely with the physicians in the practice. Consultation and further evaluation can simply be arranged when necessary.
