About the Emergency Department
The Emergency Department at Sibley Memorial Hospital practices leading-edge emergency medicine in a patient-friendly environment. We combine outstanding clinical care, efficiency, comfort, dignity and safety to approximately 35,000 patients each year. The department is located on the first floor of the hospital. Patients can be dropped off at the emergency entrance, accessible from Loughboro Road.
The Department is divided into two areas. Our major treatment area has 15 beds and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There is a separate Fast Track area, designed to provide patients with less serious complaints faster treatment and discharge. Fast Track has five treatment areas and is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. During other times, minor illnesses are treated in the main department.
