Definition:
Maryland Health and Higher Education Facilities Authority - MHHEFA owns the parking facilities located on the Johns Hopkins East Baltimore Medical Campus. Broadway Services, Inc. operates the facilities under contract with MHHEFA.

Returned checks are checks returned unpaid from a bank.

Purpose:
To provide a means to recapture revenues for time parked and fees imposed by a bank that otherwise could be lost.

Procedure:
Non-JHH/JHHS/JHU Employee, Patients and Visitors
For any returned check, an invoice will be generated for parking and bank fees ($25.00 per returned check) and will be sent by First Class US Mail, if no payment is received in ten business days, a second invoice will be sent by certified mailed. The return of three or more checks written by the same person will result in placement of that person on the No-Check Accepted hot sheet. He or she will be prohibited from writing personal checks for parking fees. In addition, individuals with 3 or more outstanding returned checks may have their vehicles impounded, with parking and returned check fees included in the vehicle release fee.

JHH/JHHS/JHU Employees
For any returned check, the employee will be contacted via e-mail or telephone and made aware of the situation. At the time of notification, the employee will be given an opportunity and payment options to pay the amount in full including return check fees ($25.00 per returned check). Failure to do so will result in a report to the employee's supervisor. The return of three or more checks written by the same employee will result in placement of that employee on the No-Check Accepted hot sheet. He or she will be prohibited from writing personal checks for parking fees. In addition, individuals with 3 or more outstanding returned checks may have their vehicles impounded, with parking and returned check fees included in the vehicle release fee.

Authorized Individuals: All transient parkers and Johns Hopkins East Baltimore Medical Campus Staff
