Information About Parking in Orleans Garage

To ease the transition for Hopkins employees into the Orleans Street Garage, please note the following important information:

• There are five entrances to the garage: 
  • 4 entrance lanes from Orleans Street (Open 24/7)
  • 1 entrance lane from Fayette Street—just west of Wolfe Street (Open from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday)

• There are four exit lanes coming from the garage:
  • 3 exit lanes to Orleans Street (Open 24/7)
  • 1 exit to Fayette Street—just west of Wolfe Street (Open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday) 
  • A fifth exit will be located on the third level and lead out to Fayette Street - just east of Broadway Street (Open 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.).  Anticipated opening is January 2006.

• A new traffic light assists cars entering and exiting the garage.
• An employee-only pedestrian bridge (badge required) extends across Orleans Street from the garage’s fourth level.  When in the garage, look to our friendly guide, "Jack Hammer," for directional guidance to the bridge.  We urge you to use the employee-only pedestrian bridge to cross this very busy street.  Eventually the bridge will connect to the new towers; until they are open, please exit the bridge via the stairs.
• A trail of blue and white 12x12 "Staff Orleans Garage" signs guide employees upon their return to their Orleans Street Garage from the Weinberg side of the bridge.
• Alternative parking arrangements were to have been made for those unable to navigate stairs due to a documented medical condition.
• For those preferring to walk indoors, a covered walkway extends from the employee-only pedestrian bridge exit to the Weinberg Garage, and from there through Weinberg to the Hospital.
• Those preferring to walk outside may use the Jefferson Street entrance to Weinberg or the Hospital’s Broadway entrance, after it opens.
• For those who prefer not to walk, an employee shuttle runs Monday through Friday every fifteen to twenty minutes during peak hours (6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.) from the garage’s bridge exit to the Hospital’s Wolfe Street entrance, with additional stops at the Billings Administration gates and the Monument-at-Rutland employee entrance.  There is no service between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.  Shuttle hours have also been extended to accommodate nighttime passengers, running Monday through Friday from 10:20 p.m. to 12:50 a.m. every half hour.
