Information for Employees

Making room for the construction of the two new clinical towers—one devoted to cardiovascular and critical care, and one dedicated to children—requires demolition of the Broadway Garage.  This has triggered a series of parking changes to keep patients away from the construction site and relocate more of them to the McElderry Garage.  Consequently, employee permit holders in both the McElderry (upper level) and Broadway garages have been reassigned to the newly constructed Orleans Street Garage

Located on the south side of Orleans Street, between Broadway and Wolfe Streets (see map) the new garage has 2,300 spaces and five levels, more than enough room to accommodate employees currently parking in Broadway and McElderry.

  • Upper Level McElderry Permit Holders:  All upper level McElderry Garage permit holders have been assigned to the Orleans Street Garage in order to designate the garage as a Patient/Visitor facility.  Permit holders were asked to begin using the Orleans Street Garage on Tuesday, October 18, 2005.  Permit access to the upper levels of McElderry was disabled at midnight on October 20, 2005.
  • Broadway Permit Holders:  All Broadway Garage permit holders have been assigned to the Orleans Street Garage.  Permit holders were asked to begin using the new facility on October 14, 2005 when it opened that morning.  Permit access to Broadway was disabled at midnight on October 17, 2005.
  • Employees With Disabilities:  Employees with disabilities who have not yet been provided with a special parking arrangement must provide the following information to Occupational Health Services:  a letter from the employee’s physician stating the medical condition and the duration of the special arrangement.  The letter should be mailed or faxed to OHS, 98 N. Broadway/Suite 421 to the attention of either Beth Cooper or Frances Humphrey-Carothers.  The fax number is 410-955-1617.
  • Using the Orleans Street Garage:  We understand that you may face a longer walk to work from Orleans Street than from your former garage.

  • Patient/Visitor Information:  Patients and visitors now park in the McElderry Garage and have shuttle and valet service options.
