Dr. Levine is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology. He is the recipient of a K08 physician-scientist training award, and is primarily interested in the pathogenesis of the idiopathic inflammatory myopathies and the link between malignancy and autoimmune disease. His research focuses on how autoantigen conformation and expression in tissues targeted by the immune system in the systemic rheumatic diseases contributes to immunogenicity, with special attention to the myositis-specific antigen histidyl-tRNA synthetase and its expression in muscle and lung. Dr. Levine’s clinical interests are in the systemic rheumatic diseases including myositis and vasculitis.
