JHH Pediatric Neonatal Summer Program

2008 Respiratory Care Summer Programs

Respiratory Care Services at the Johns Hopkins Hospital is offering a four week summer program to dedicated respiratory care students interested in pursuing a career in respiratory critical care.

The program includes a focus in either Adult Critical Care or Pediatric/Neonatal Critical Care

Important clinical skills are emphasized during this program:

  • clinical evaluation and patient assessment
  • critical thinking and decision-making
  • proper and responsible medical research
  • establishing patient therapeutic goals
  • promotion of evidence-based medicine
  • teamwork
  • effective communication among caregivers

Application to the Summer Program includes:

  • Specify in the application whether you are applying for the Adult or Pediatric/Neonatal Summer Program
  • Official copy of your most recent transcripts
  • Short essay (~1 page) describing why you wish to participate in the Summer program including what you hope to accomplish as a result of your participation.
  • Letter of recommendation from your Respiratory Care Program Director. Directors, please include:
    • strengths and skills the student possesses that would help them excel in this program.
    • pediatric and neonatal topics to which you believe this student should be exposed.
