Mohamed Atta Lab

  • Research in the Mohamed Atta Lab focuses on kidney diseases in patients with HIV. We recently reviewed the published nephrotoxic effects of newer antiviral therapies for HIV and hepatitis C, specifically looking at the role of epithelial organic transporters in explaining renal toxicities. We also examined the relationship between the APOL1 genotype and renal histology among black patients with HIV who had undergone kidney biopsies.
