Maria Portuondo Lab

  • The Maria Portuondo Lab conducts research on early modern science and technology in Europe and Latin America. Our team focuses primarily on Spain and the Americas but also delves into rarely explored topics within the traditional narrative of early modern science and the scientific revolution. We investigate several general themes within the history of science, including intellectual history, methodological aspects of scientific practice, epistemological issues of knowledge production, science in the context of territorial expansion and the role of science in an imperial context.
