Sara Palmer, Ph.D.

Sara Palmer received her Ph.D. in Psychology from the City University of New York in 1982. She has worked as a rehabilitation psychologist in university, hospital and private practice settings. She has been a clinical consultant to the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation since 1985, joined the faculty in 1999, and was the attending psychologist for the spinal cord injury team at Good Samaritan Hospital from 2002 -2007. She currently holds a part-time faculty appointment.

Dr. Palmer currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Maryland Psychological Association and chairs their Committee on Disability Issues. She is a frequent presenter of professional and community workshops on psychosocial issues related to disability and rehabilitation. She is the first author of Spinal Cord Injury: A Guide for Living, a book for people with spinal cord injuries and their families.
