Anxiety in children is common and eight to ten percent of children suffer from anxiety disorders. Symptoms may include:
- Reluctance to attend school of camp or sleepovers
- Fears of being separated from parents for even short periods of time
- Shyness that interferes with making friends or participating in activities
- excessive worries and need for reassurance
- Aches and pains
There are a number of treatments that are effective in helping youngsters with these problems. Early diagnosis and intervention can bring much needed relief to everyone in the family. Our program offers a through assessment with diagnostic clarification, individual and family work that includes cognitive behavioral therapy, and pharmacological intervention when indicated. Psychiatrists and psychologists work together to provide this coordinated care.
