University Mental Health Services

University Mental Health Services is a confidential diagnostic and treatment program for medical students, graduate students, trainees, postdoctoral fellows, and spouses/same-sex domestic partners seeking psychiatric treatment.

For further information on our services, insurance coverage, and scheduling appointments, call 410-955-1892. After hours, a clinical specialist can be reached by calling 410-955-1892.  If you are in need of emergency or urgent care, go to The Johns Hopkins Hospital Emergency Department immediately.

INITIAL CONSULTATION

Your first visit will allow us to get a sense of your needs and to provide a comprehensive psychiatric and mental health evaluation.  We will formulate a treatment plan that will address your concerns and make appropriate referrals when necessary.

CONFIDENTIALITY 

Your treatment will be private and confidential. What you discuss with your treatment provider will not be communicated to anyone without your permission, except if there is a danger to yourself or others.

INSURANCE COVERAGE

The mental health benefits (through Student Health Program and the University Health Services) provides unlimited visits if care is received through University Mental Health Services. It is financially advantageous to use University Mental Health Services. If you seek care outside of University Mental Health Services, the Student Health Program provides 52% of the reasonable and customary charges for the first 20 visits, then 50% of reasonable and customary charges for visits beyond 20.
