Professional Interests

My professional interests focus on understanding both the biobehavioral causes and consequences of chronic insomnia and the development of novel treatment approaches. I am specifically interested in studying the neurobiologic mechanisms by which sleep disturbance increases risk or exacerbates chronic medical and psychiatric conditions, especially pain modulation disorders and depression. I focus my clinical practice on the evaluation and treatment of chronic insomnia (both primary and secondary)and chronic pain disorders.
