Geriatric Psychiatry

Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center

The Geriatric Psychiatry Clinic offers outpatient services to individuals 60 and older who are experiencing memory loss, depression, anxiety, and/or behavioral problems.

Services Offered

  • Comprehensive evaluation and treatment: Management of memory problems, depression, anxiety, and /or behavioral problems includes comprehensive evaluation and regular longitudinal follow up.The initial evaluation usually takes about three to four hours. Patients are encouraged to bring pertinent medical records and current medications at the time of the initial evaluation. Steps will be taken to ensure that care is coordinated with the patient’s primary care doctor when appropriate.
  • Medication management
  • Working with a licensed therapist for individual and/or family therapy
  • Group therapy focusing on mindfulness is also available
  • Geriatric Psychiatry also provides consultation service. A comprehensive consultation evaluation may take 2–3 visits over a period of 1–2 months.

Clinic Staff

The Geriatric Psychiatry Clinic is staffed by an interdisciplinary team consisting of psychiatrists, registered nurse therapists, and licensed mental health therapists.

Insurance

We accept Medical Assistance, Medicare, as well as some private insurance. Verification of all insurance must be made prior to an appointment being scheduled. When applicable, co-payments are expected at the time of service.
