Background

Dr. Andrea Schram holds a joint appointment in medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She is an assistant professor of community public health at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and holds a joint appointment at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Her areas of clinical expertise include general internal medicine and managing chronic illnesses. 

Dr. Schram received her B.S. from Indiana University. She earned her M.S.N. from Georgetown University and her D.N.P. from Johns Hopkins. Dr. Schram joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2010.

Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, she was a clinical instructor in the MSN Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Texas at Arlington. 

Dr. Schram's research focuses on self-management of chronic disease.

She is a member of the American College of Nurse Practitioners and past president of the North Texas Nurse Practitioners.

Research Summary

Dr. Schram focuses her research on improving chronic disease outcomes on an individual level as well as on a systems level, including improved care coordination through the patient-centered medical home. She has extensive experience in managing chronic illnesses such as hypertension and diabetes.
