Salwa Khan, M.D., MHS, FAAP, is the associate director for the Pediatric Hospitalist Program at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Her prior work experience includes being on staff of the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (part of the Bloomberg School of Public Health); serving as program manager for the Vermont Child Health Improvement Program (VCHIP); working as a senior epidemiologist for the State of Vermont Dept. of Health; and serving as an attending hospitalist at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).
Dr. Khan is actively involved in teaching medical students and pediatric residents at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She is particularly interested in issues of quality and safety for pediatric care and enjoys processes that streamline and standardize care for children. She is part of the Section on International Child Health of the American Academy of Pediatrics; co-chair of the Community Hospitalist Subcommittee of the Maryland Chapter of the AAP; and serves as a child health consultant for the World Bank. She also serves as course director for the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Hospital Medicine Symposium.
Active in her community, Dr. Khan is a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for juveniles in the Maryland court system, and works with Meals on Wheels.
