Martin G. Paul, M.D. is a graduate of Northwestern University''s Honors Program in Medical Education and received his surgical training at Georgetown University Medical Center where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honorary medical society. He received the Upjohn Award for outstanding teaching and clinical skills as a surgical resident.
After his surgical residency, Dr. Paul served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps from 1988 to 1994 and was Chief of Surgery and Deputy Hospital Commander of the 212th MASH. He is now a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, and currently is Surgical Consultant to the U.S. State Department.
Dr. Paul joined Foxhall Surgical Associates in 1994. He is on the medical staff of Sibley Memorial Hospital and serves as the Chairman of the Department of Surgery. He is a past President of the Sibley Medical Association. He is Board Certified in General Surgery, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Paul is the Johns Hopkins Regional Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area and has been repeatedly honored by The Washingtonian Magazine as one of the best surgical specialists in the D.C. area. He was specially featured in a recent "Top Doctors" issue for his expertise with laparoscopic surgery. He also has been awarded distinction by Consumer Checkbook Magazine as one of the Best Doctors in America, having been selected by a consensus of physician colleagues as being among the top 4 percent of all physicians in his specialty. He has also been named as “Top Surgeon” in the United States by Castle Connolly and U.S. News and World Report.
