Background

Dr. Richard M. Katz is an associate professor of pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His area of clinical expertise is pediatric gastroenterology. 

He serves as the vice-president of medical affairs at Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins. He is also the medical director of the Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital Feeding Disorders Program.

Dr. Katz earned a B.A. from Washington University of St. Louis and received his M.D. from Northwestern University. He completed residencies in pediatrics at the University of Chicago and the University of California, San Diego, and a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition at the University of California, San Francisco. He also received a master of business administration degree from Johns Hopkins University.

He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member the North American Society of Pediatric Gastronomy and Nutrition, the American Gastroenterologic Association, the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition and the American College of Physician Executives. 

He sits on the Child Health Quality Council and the National Task Force on Childhood Obesity and is a member of the Maryland Governor’s Commission Committee on Childhood Obesity.
