Background
Dr. Dana Baras graduated magna cum laude from James Madison University with a degree in business administration, then earned a Masters of Public Health degree in epidemiology from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. While at Emory, she interned with the CDC in the Division of STD Prevention. Dr. Baras completed her medical degree at the University of Virginia and her OB/GYN residency at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Dr. Baras delivers babies exclusively at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center. She is comfortable with high-risk pregnancies and is a proponent of vaginal birth after C-section in the appropriate patients.
Her interests include general and high-risk obstetrics as well as preconception counseling, adolescent health, contraception, and abnormal uterine bleeding. Her surgical interests include office hysteroscopy and LEEP, outpatient operative hysteroscopy, including endometrial ablation, and hysteroscopic resection of uterine fibroids and polyps.
Dr. Baras grew up in Virginia Beach, where she developed a love of the ocean. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
