Background
Dr. Elena Gallo MacFarlane is an Assistant Professor in the McKusick-Nathans Institute of Genetic Medicine. She studies the genetic, epigenetic and biochemical mechanisms that account for susceptibility to signaling perturbations in vascular disease, with particular focus on hereditary forms of aneurysm.
She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Milan, Italy and a PhD from Stanford University School of Medicine before joining the faculty. She is a member of the American Society for Human Genetics, the American Heart Association and the North American Vascular Biology Organization.
