Shaoyong Yu, M.D.
Assistant Professor of Medicine
Dr. Shaoyong Yu is Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Gastroenterology and Hepatology division. He studies neurogastroenterology and motility.
Dr. Yu received medical and master’s degrees from Tongji Medical University, and a master of public health degree from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health before joining the Johns Hopkins faculty.

Research & Publications
Dr. Yu's research has been focused on neuro-immune interactions in the GI tract. Specifically, he is interested in studying the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying sensory nerve plasticity and esophageal sensory and motor dysfunction.
The research projects in my lab focus on immun-nerve interactions in the esophagus.
A post-doc position is opening to investigate the molecular and cellular mechanisms of visceral sensation and nociception for self-motivated individual who has been trained in electrophysiology (patch clamp and/or extra-cellular recording).
