Dr. Jian Wang is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Department. He studies calcium pathways in hypoxic pulmonary hypertension, calcium signaling in hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction and acute pulmonary arterial responses to hypoxia.
Dr. Wang holds master’s degrees from the University of Western Ontario and the Medical School of Inner Mongolia. He received a medical degree from the Medical School of Inner Mongolia and completed fellowships at University of Western Ontario and the University of Maryland before joining the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2008. He is a member of the American Society for Neuroscience, the American Heart and Stroke Association and the International Stroke Society, and serves on the editorial boards of the Chinese Journal of Practical Nervous Diseases and Neural Regeneration Research. His work has been recognized with a Silver Medal Poster Award from the Annual ACCM Research Day at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2008 and 2009, an American Heart Association Scientist Development Award from 2006-2008, a selection for the National S&T Advancement Award from the Ministry of Education in China in 2005, an American Heart Association Postdoctoral Fellowship from 2002-2004, a Natural Science Award from the Ministry of Education in China in 2003, a Chinese Medical S&T Advancement Award from the Chinese Medical Association in 2002, a Young Investigator Award from the Natural Science Foundation of China from 2001-2003, a Postdoctoral Award from the Postdoctoral Science Foundation of China from 2000-2001, a S&T Advancement Award from the Government of Guangdong Province in 2000, a Medical S&T Advancement Award from the Scientific Committee of Guangdong Province in 1999, an Award for the 13th Annual Scientific Symposium at Sun Yat-Sen University in 1999, an Award for the best M.S. work from Henan Medical University in 1996 and a First Prize for the Best Student Scholarship from the Medical College of Henan University in 1988.
