A physician-scientist with a focus on novel therapeutics in head and neck cancer, Hyu (Hyunseok) is a member of the Upper Aerodigestive Cancer Program.

Hyu's long-term goal is to develop a translational and clinical investigation program focused on head and neck cancer. In addition, he serves as an attending on the inpatient solid tumor service, establish a continuity outpatient clinic, and supervise Hematology and Oncology fellows in clinic. more

    Research Summary

    Dr. Kang is interested in developing novel therapeutics in treatment of head and neck squamous cell carcinomas and salivary gland cancers. Dr.Kang is currently focusing on development of antibody-drug conjugates in head and neck cancers both in laboratory and clinical research settings. Dr.Kang's goal is to provide better way to understand and manage head and neck cancers through the research.

    1. A phase 1 study of IMGN289 in adult patients with EGFR-positive solid tumors.

    2. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of chemotherapy plus cetuximab in combination with VTX-2337 in patients with recurrent or metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck.
