Neurological disorders during the perinatal period; Mechanisms of inflammation and trophism
Dr. Raul Chavez-Valdez is an assistant professor of pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His area of clinical expertise is neonatology.
After finishing medical school at Universidad Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru, Dr. Chavez-Valdez did his pediatric residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship in neonatology-perinatology and community pediatrics at Johns Hopkins, where he was awarded the 2007 Eudowood Board Bauernschmidt Fellowship Award. In 2013, he became a Sutland-Pakula Scholar Fellow in the Division of Neonatology.
Since 2005 his research has focused in mechanisms of inflammation and trophism with particular interest in the neurological disorders during the perinatal period. His work has been reported at many national and international meetings and in several publications in well-recognized journals.
