Biography

Dr. Rita Driggers is an assistant professor in the Johns Hopkins Medicine Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics and medical director of the division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Sibley Memorial Hospital. Her areas of clinical expertise include high-risk pregnancies, cervical insufficiency and prevention of preterm labor. Dr. Driggers served for 14 years as a physician in the U.S. Navy.

Dr. Driggers received her undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from the University of Central Florida. She earned her M.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. She completed her residency at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and performed a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Johns Hopkins.

Prior to joining the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2013, Dr. Driggers was as an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Georgetown University School of Medicine and an adjunct associate professor at the Uniformed University of the Health Sciences. Dr. Driggers has also served as director of the division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the National Naval Medical Center.

Dr. Driggers’ research interests include preterm birth and diabetes-related complications of pregnancy. Dr. Driggers serves on the editorial board of the Obstetrics and Gynecology International Journal and has published numerous research articles on fetal and maternal health in high-risk pregnancies. Dr. Driggers is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
