Background
Dr. Kim is a pulmonary and critical care medicine trained physician who is an intensivist in the Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care Unit (CVSICU). He is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of critical illness with a focus in post-operative management of patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery including heart and lung transplantation, cardiac bypass graft, and valvular replacement procedures. Dr. Kim also has expertise in all forms of mechanical support including intra-aortic balloon pumps, ventricular assist devices (VADs), and ECMO. He serves as the Medical Director of the Hopkins Adult ECMO Program.
