Dr. Babar Shafiq is an assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Dr. Shafiq specializes in orthopaedic trauma, particularly in treating complex fractures and non-unions, fractures of the pelvis and extremities, and multiple trauma.
Prior to joining the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2013, he served as Howard University Hospital’s director of orthopaedic trauma.
Dr. Shafiq earned his medical degree from the Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at Howard University Hospital, as well as an orthopaedic trauma fellowship at Regions Hospital/ University of Minnesota Medical School.
He also holds a master’s degree in physical therapy from Widener University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Vermont.
