Biography

Dr. Sun is a fellowship-trained and board-certified breast surgeon specializing in breast cancer. As a faculty member of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Dr. Sun is part of a highly specialized multidisciplinary team, emphasizing on compassionate care and personalized medicine. She is dedicated to providing the highest levels of surgical techniques, including nipple and skin sparing mastectomy, breast conservation with oncoplastic techniques and minimally invasive breast surgery. Her research focuses on surgical treatment that improves long-term outcome and quality of life. Dr. Sun’s research is focused on clinical advancements in the practice of breast oncologic surgery. Ongoing projects include those evaluating clinical outcomes and measures of postoperative quality of life. She is working on multi-institutional research programs in oncoplastic surgery with goals to achieve better oncologic and functional outcome. She has published multiple scientific papers in national peer-reviewed journals and presented at national meetings. She graduated from Johns Hopkins University with top honors and received her medical degree at Penn State University School of Medicine. She was also elected to the Phi Beta Kappa honors society, Golden Key honor society and Pathology honor society. She is a member of American College of Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology, American Society of Breast Surgeons, Association of Women Surgeons and American Society of Clinical Oncology.
