Dr. Monica Smith Pearl is an Assistant Professor in the Johns Hopkins Medicine Department of Radiology and Radiological Science and acts as Attending Physician in the Division of Interventional Neuroradiology.
Her areas of specialization include pediatric neuroradiology and neurovascular disorders, arteriovenous malformations and fisultas, atherosclerosis, carotid artery stenosis, cerebral aneurysms, cerebral vascular disease and malformations, intracerebral hemorrhage, intracranial aneurysms, Moyamoya disease and sclerotherapy.
Dr. Pearl received her B.S. in mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1998 and her M.D. from Duke University in 2002. Following training in general surgery and diagnostic radiology at the George Washington University, she earned her certification from the American Board of Radiology in 2008. After completing fellowships in both diagnostic neuroradiology and interventional neuroradiology at the Johns Hopkins University, she joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2010.
In addition to being an Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Pediatric Neuroradiology, she is also a member of the American Society of Neuroradiology, American College of Radiology, Senior Member of the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery and a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology with subspecialty board certification in neuroradiology.
