    Research Summary

Dr. Naik’s research focuses on the epidemiology and unique mechanisms of thrombosis in patients with hemoglobin disorders. Hypercoagulability in patients with hereditary hemoglobin disorders such as sickle cell disease results in severe complications such as venous thromboembolism and stroke. The primary aim of Dr. Naik’s research is to characterize this thrombotic risk with the goal of identifying novel mechanisms of hypercoagulability and developing effective therapeutic strategies in patients with hemoglobinopathies.
