Background

Dr. Lauren F. Loeffler is an assistant professor of pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her area of clinical expertise is pediatric nephrology, and she provides care for children with kidney problems of any type, from microscopic hematuria to kidney transplant recipients. 

She received her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Rhodes College and earned her M.D. at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at University of Virginia Health System.  Dr. Loeffler went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric nephrology at Johns Hopkins University, and as part of her fellowship training, she received an M.H.S. in clinical epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health

Dr. Loeffler’s research interests have included childhood hypertension and albuminuria in chronic kidney disease.  Currently her clinical work focuses on both acute and chronic kidney diseases, with special interests idiopathic nephrotic syndrome of childhood and infectious and immunologic kidney diseases.  Dr. Loeffler works in the outpatient pediatric hemodialysis center as well, and is invested in caring for patients with end-stage kidney disease and their families.
