Dr. Mark Zakaria is an assistant professor in the Johns Hopkins Medicine Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. His areas of clinical expertise include gynecologic and pelvic minimally invasive surgery.

Dr. Zakaria received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from the University of Michigan. He earned his M.D. from Wayne State University and completed his residency at Detroit Medical Center. He performed a fellowship in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at the University of South Florida. While at the University of South Florida, Dr. Zakaria also earned an M.S. in clinical and translational research. Dr. Zakaria joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2013.

Dr. Zakaria’s research interests include technological innovations to improve gynecologic minimally invasive surgeries. Dr. Zakaria is a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and a member of the National Academy of Inventors.
