Background
Dr. Pitha is an associate professor of ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute. He specializes in glaucoma. His research focuses on developing glaucoma medicines that eliminate the need for daily eye drops.
He received his M.D. and Ph.D. (pharmacology and toxicology) from Dartmouth Medical School, where he also completed a post-doctoral research fellowship, studying retinal degeneration. He then completed an internship in internal medicine at the University of Maryland and his residency in ophthalmology and chief resident year at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Pitha completed a clinical glaucoma fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute prior to joining the faculty.
