Research Summary

Dr. Turban’s clinical research interests include the regulation of blood pressure and prevention of kidney disease, particularly the effects of sodium and potassium on blood pressure and on kidney function. She is the Principal Investigator of the completed American Heart Association-funded Chronic Kidney Disease-Potassium (CKD-K) clinical trial, which investigated the effects of dietary potassium in patients with kidney disease. She is also a Co-Investigator of several other research studies, including an intervention trial investigating the safety and efficacy of a vasopressin receptor antagonist in polycystic kidney disease, the NIH/NIDDK-sponsored Chronic Renal Insufficiency Cohort (CRIC) study, and an NIH-sponsored set of trials investigating the efficacy of tailored dietary advice and mineral supplements on lowering blood pressure.
